Join Rabbi Samuels in exploring the complicated world of Jewish medical ethics. In these three sessions, students will learn about the positive, negative, beneficial, and questionable aspects of new technologies in the medical field and the wisdom Judaism offers us in our encounters with them. Topics will cover issues pertaining to the beginning and end of life as well as measures taken to prolong life.
The class will use Elliot Dorff's "Matters of Life and Death: A Jewish Approach to Modern Medical Ethics" as the main textbook as well as various Reform and Conservative responsa literature.
